Description General description Acrylamide (AA) is a neurotoxin and carcinogen. It was found in potato products like, french fries and potato chips and also in several cereal-based products. This highly reactive organic compound has the ability to polymerize to form polyacrylamide. Application Acrylamide/bis-acrylamide, 40% solution has been used in the preparation of temperature sensitive tissue-mimicking phantoms. It has also been used in the preparation of polyacrylamide gels for electrophoresis of the PCR products. These acrylamide/bis-acrylamide solutions are available at the most common ratios for use in protein and nucleic acid electrophoresis. The concentration is based on the total weight of both the acrylamide and bis-acrylamide. Preparation Note Solution prepared from electrophoresis grade acrylamide and bis-acrylamide in ultra-pure water.
