Description_x000D_ General description_x000D_ α-Ketoglutarate (α-KG) is a key intermediate in the Tricarboxylic Acid (TCA) Cycle, formed by the oxidative decarboylation of isocitrate by isocitrate dehydrogenase. The synthesis of α-KG from glutamate by glutamate dehydrogenase is a key TCA cycle anaplerotic reaction. α-KG is an important nitrogen transporter. This α-Ketoglutarate Assay Kit provides a simple, sensitive and rapid means for quantifying α-KG in a variety of samples._x000D_ Application_x000D_ α-Ketoglutarate Assay Kit has been used to determine the activity of α-ketoglutarate._x000D_ Suitability_x000D_ Suitable for the measurement of a-Ketoglutarate in a variety of biological samples including cell and tissue lysates_x000D_ Principle_x000D_ α-KG concentration is determined by a coupled enzyme assay, which results in a colorimetric (570 nm)/ fluorometric (λex = 535/λem = 587 nm) product, proportional to the α-KG present. Typical sensitivities of detection for this kit are 0.01 to 10 nmoles.
