Description_x000D_ General description_x000D_ ER degradation-enhancing α-mannosidase like protein 1 (EDEM1) is a putative mannose-binding lectin. EDEM1 is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) mainly as a soluble glycoprotein._x000D_ Immunogen_x000D_ synthetic peptide corresponding to an internal region within human EDEM1, conjugated to KLH. The corresponding sequence differs by a single amino acid in mouse and by 2 amino acids in rat._x000D_ Application_x000D_ Anti-EDEM1(internal) antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunoblotting and immunoprecipitation._x000D_ Physical form_x000D_ Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide._x000D_ Disclaimer_x000D_ Unless otherwise stated in our catalog or other company documentation accompanying the product(s), our products are intended for research use only and are not to be used for any other purpose, which includes but is not limited to, unauthorized commercial uses, in vitro diagnostic uses, ex vivo or in vivo therapeutic uses or any type of consumption or application to humans or animals._x000D_ Biochem/physiol Actions_x000D_ Over-expression of ER degradation-enhancing α-mannosidase like protein 1 (EDEM1) leads to endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-associated degradation (ERAD) by stimulating the release of terminally misfolded glycoproteins from calnexin. EDEM degrades misfolded glycoproteins in an N-glycan dependent manner. Three EDEM homologues, EDEM1, EDEM2 and EDEM3 are transcriptionally upregulated by activated inositol-requiring enzyme 1 (IRE1)/X-box binding protein 1 (XBP1) branch. It interacts with the COOH-terminus of calnexin and lacks mannosidase activity.
