RAI14 is expressed in retinal pigment epithelial cells, induced by all-trans-retinoic acid. Highest expression of RAI14 occurs in the placenta and testis. The predicted human RAI14 protein consists of 980 amino acids, and features 6 potential N-glycosylation sites, six ankyrin repeats and several coiled-coil helical domains. RAI14, which localizes to the cytoplasm, is also highly expressed in several human cancer cell lines.
