Description_x000D_ General description_x000D_ Rho guanine nucleotide dissociation inhibitor I (RhoGDI), also known as Rho GDP dissociation inhibitor α (ARHGDIA) is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 17q25.3-25-3. RhoGDI is the member of Rho/Rac protein family. The encoded protein consists of 204 amino acids and has a molecular mass of 23,421,000 Mr. In mammals, three RhoGDI isoforms exists: RhoGDIα, RhoGDIβ and RhoGDIγ. RhoGDIα is widely expressed. RhoGDIβ is mainly expressed in hematopoietic cells and RhoGDIγ is present in the brain, lung, kidney and testis._x000D_ Rho proteins are basically described as guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (GNBPs). RhoGDI (Rho guanine nucleotide dissociation inhibitor)/ARHGDIA (Rho guanine nucleotide dissociation inhibitor) has three subtypes namely- RhoGDIα (Rho GDP dissociation inhibitor α), RhoGDIβ (Rho GDP dissociation inhibitor β) and RhoGDIγ (Rho GDP dissociation inhibitor γ). RhoGDIα is expressed everywhere. It is located on human chromosome 17q25.3.
