Description_x000D_ General description_x000D_ Somatostatin receptor 2 (SSTR2) is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 17q25.1. It is mainly localized on choroid plexus and arachnoid granulations. SSTR2 is transcribed into two isoforms, SSTR2A and SSTR2B through alternative splicing._x000D_ Immunogen_x000D_ synthetic peptide corresponding to the second extracellular loop of human somatostatin receptor type 2, conjugated to KLH. The immunizing peptide has 100% homology with the rat and mouse gene._x000D_ Physical form_x000D_ Solution in phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.7, containing 0.1% sodium azide._x000D_ Biochem/physiol Actions_x000D_ Somatostatin receptor 2 (SSTR2) mediates human anterior pituitary hormone suppression by interacting with its peptide ligand somatostatin. It also plays a major role in maintenance of brain fluid homeostasis. The encoded protein has an ability to hinder the cell proliferation of solid tumors. Experimental studies states that SSTR2 methylation is presumed to be involved in the metastasis and invasion of laryngeal cancer.
