Description; General description; Sterol regulatory element-binding transcription factor 1 (SREBF1) also known as SREBP-1 binds to a sequence in the promoter of different genes, called sterol regulatory element-1 (SRE1). Upon cleavage of the precursor form of the protein, SREBF1 gets translated into the nucleus where it induces transcription of genes involved in glucose metabolism and fatty acid and lipid production.
