Description_x000D_
General description_x000D_
TTP belongs to a family of human ARE (AU-rich element found in 3′ UTR mRNA) binding protein TTP mRNA is widely distributed among tissue types, with a higher expression level in spleen, lymph nodes, and thymus._x000D_
Tristetraprolin (TTP), also known as zinc-finger protein 36 (ZFP36), is a RNA-binding protein, encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 19q13.2. TTP is ubiquitously expressed and is characterized with a highly homologous RNA binding domain (RBD) with two CCCH zinc fingers (ZFs)._x000D_
Immunogen_x000D_
synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 51-67 of human TTP, conjugated to KLH. The corresponding sequence differs by one amino acid in mouse and rat._x000D_
Application_x000D_
TTP (N-terminal) antibody produced in rabbit has been used in following studies:_x000D_

• ribonucleoprotein immunoprecipitation (RNP-IP)_x000D_
Target description_x000D_
TTP (N-terminal) (also known as Tristetraproline, Zfp-36, TIS11A, and Growth factor-inducible nuclear protein NUP475) is an RNA-binding protein that suppresses inflammation by accelerating the degradation of cytokine mRNA. TTP belongs to a family of human_x000D_
Physical form_x000D_
Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide._x000D_

Biochem/physiol Actions_x000D_
In activated monocytes and T lymphocytes, it regulates the expression of tumor necrosis factor a (TNF- α) by binding to a conserved AU rich element within the 3′ UTR of TNF-α mRNA. TTP is a phosphoprotein reported to be a substrate for kinases like MAPK activated protein kinase 2 (MAPKAPK2). The p38 signal transduction pathway is required for the expression of TTP protein and mRNA._x000D_
Tristetraprolin (TTP) plays a key role in maintaining the stability of certain adenosine/uridine AU-rich element (ARE) mRNAs, by removing of the poly(A) tail and enhancing mRNA turnover. The encoded protein participates in mRNA binding and destabilization.
