Description_x000D_ General description_x000D_ Microtubules are composed of tubulin and several additional proteins designated microtubule associated proteins (MAPs). Tubulin is a heterodimer which consists of an α-chain and a β-chain, both of which have a molecular weight of approximately 55,000. Microtubules form an elaborate cytoplasmic network during interphase and are reorganized into the mitotic spindle during cell division._x000D_ Tubulin is an extremely conserved and negatively charged protein. It is expressed in all eukaryotic cells, but mainly in brains._x000D_ Specificity_x000D_ The product stains tubulin in cultured chicken fibroblasts or 3T3 mouse fibroblasts. Additional bands may be stained in immunoblotting._x000D_ Immunogen_x000D_ microtubule proteins from brains of 13 day old chicken embryos_x000D_ Application_x000D_ Anti-Tubulin antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunoblotting and indirect immunofluorescence._x000D_ Disclaimer_x000D_ Unless otherwise stated in our catalog or other company documentation accompanying the product(s), our products are intended for research use only and are not to be used for any other purpose, which includes but is not limited to, unauthorized commercial uses, in vitro diagnostic uses, ex vivo or in vivo therapeutic uses or any type of consumption or application to humans or animals._x000D_ Biochem/physiol Actions_x000D_ αβ-tubulin heterodimers helps in formation of microtubules. Tubulin dimers exhibits GTPase activity, assembly and disassembly properties. It facilitates the construction of the flagellar apparatus.
