During posttranscriptional regulation of histone mRNA, ZNF473 binds to the histone pre-mRNAs with the help of stem-loop binding protein (SLBP) to facilitate 3′-end processing. It has ability to bind the SLBP/RNA complex but not with free SLBP. In overexpression it stimulates histone 3′-end pre-mRNA processing but has no effect on U7 snRNP levels.
