Description
General description
Canthaxanthin, a diketocarotenoid, is a strong antioxidant found in many living organisms. The potential antioxidant behavior of canthaxanthin is attributed to the presence of conjugated double bonds in its structure. It is responsible for the animal displays of maturity and the scavenging of reactive oxygen species in plant and animal tissues.
Application
Canthaxanthin (trans) may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in new soil Dietzia sp. and red coral (Corallium rubrum) samples by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) technique.
