Description_x000D_ General description_x000D_ Endocrine gland-derived vascular endothelial growth factor (EG-VEGF) belongs to the prokineticin family. It is mainly expressed in the steroidogenic glands (ovary, testis, adrenal cortex and placenta). EG-VEGF is a small, secreted peptide and works as a tissue-specific pro-angiogenic mitogen and chemotactic agent. The gene is mapped to human chromosome 1p13._x000D_ Biochem/physiol Actions_x000D_ Endocrine gland-derived vascular endothelial growth factor (EG-VEGF) is involved in angiogenesis, inflammatory responses and hematopoiesis. It also participates in female reproduction. EG-VEGF suppresses trophoblast invasion in pregnancy. Changes in the activity of this protein are associated with gestational complication, such as gestational trophoblastic diseases, repeated pregnancy losses, preeclampsia and intrauterine fetal growth restriction. EG-VEGF interacts with G protein-coupled receptors, prokineticin receptor 1 (PKR1) and prokineticin receptor 2 (PKR2). It is also involved in the pathology of Leydig-cell-tumors, papillary thyroid cancer, neuroblastoma, prostate cancer, gastrointestinal tumors, pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, Merkel cell carcinoma and multiple myeloma._x000D_ Physical form_x000D_ Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in PBS._x000D_ Reconstitution_x000D_ Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles._x000D_ Reconstitute in sterile PBS to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL containing 0.1% BSA. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers
