Description_x000D_ Application_x000D_ Interferon-γ from rat has been used to study the effect of lipoxin A4 and 17(R)-resolvin D1 on lipopolysaccharide and interferon-γ-mediated tumor necrosis factor release in rat astrocyte culture. In rats, it has been used in the treatment of INS-1 cell culture to study the conversion factors which change the frequency of β-cell replication or apoptosis to rates of replication or apoptosis._x000D_ Biochem/physiol Actions_x000D_ Ifng (interferon-γ) plays an important role in innate and adaptive immune responses, and helps in defense against bacterial infections, dimorphic yeast and some viral infections. In rats, it is upregulated during ischemic injury in the embolic stroke. In cultured rat intestinal mucosa microvascular endothelial cells, ifng is responsible for inducing expression of interferon-α and interferon-β._x000D_ Features and Benefits_x000D_ The biological activity is measured in an anti-viral assay using L-929 cells infected with EMC virus._x000D_ Physical form_x000D_ Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in phosphate buffered saline containing 50 μg of bovine serum albumin per 1 μg of cytokine.
