Description_x000D_ General description_x000D_ LAG3 (lymphocyte activation gene 3), first identified in activated natural killer cells (NK cells), is a transmembrane protein belonging to the Ig (immunoglobulin) superfamily. It is composed of four extracellular Ig-like domains, and the outermost domain has an unusual loop-like insertion. This cell is expressed in activated NK and T cells._x000D_ Biochem/physiol Actions_x000D_ Studies in mice with null mutation for LAG3 (lymphocyte activation gene 3) gene show that this protein is involved in pathways involving natural killer (NK) cells, as in these mice, NK cells are incapable of killing certain tumor targets. This protein is expressed by activated CD4+ T cells, which results in the production of IFN-γ (interferon). This protein is thought to interact with MHC II (major histocompatibility class) molecules on immature DCs (dendritic cells), thus activating and maturing APCs (antigen presenting cells)._x000D_ Physical form_x000D_ Lyophilized from 0.22 μm filtered solution in PBS, pH7.4. Generally 5-8% Mannitol or trehalose is added as a protectant before lyophilization._x000D_ Reconstitution_x000D_ Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in sterile PBS, pH 7.4 to a concentration of 50 μg/mL. Do not vortex. This solution can be stored at 2-8°C for up to 1 month. For extended storage, it is recommended to store at -20°C.
