Description_x000D_ General description_x000D_ GSTA4 (glutathione S-transferase α 4) gene is mapped to human chromosome 6p12.2. GSTA4 belongs to the superfamily of detoxification enzymes and is expressed widely._x000D_ Immunogen_x000D_ GSTA4 purified recombinant protein_x000D_ Physical form_x000D_ Solution in Dulbecco′s Modified Eagle′s Medium with 10% fetal calf serum and 15 mM sodium azide._x000D_ Disclaimer_x000D_ Unless otherwise stated in our catalog or other company documentation accompanying the product(s), our products are intended for research use only and are not to be used for any other purpose, which includes but is not limited to, unauthorized commercial uses, in vitro diagnostic uses, ex vivo or in vivo therapeutic uses or any type of consumption or application to humans or animals._x000D_ Biochem/physiol Actions_x000D_ GSTA4 (glutathione S-transferase α 4) catalyzes the conjugation of glutathione with 4-hydroxynonenal. The enzyme is known to deactivate 4-hydroxynonenal, a byproduct of lipid peroxidation which offers resistance against wound infection. GSTA4 is considered as a tumor susceptible gene that promotes the progression of skin cancer. Upregulation of GSTA4 was observed in erythroleukemia, mammary adenocarcinoma and ovary adenocarcinoma. GSTA4 might be associated with the development of drug resistance.
