Description_x000D_ General description_x000D_ Neuraminidase 1 (NEU1) is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 6p21.33. The encoded protein belongs to the glycohydrolytic enzyme family. NEU1 is a lysosomal protein with a highly conserved catalytic region. The protein also contains three arginine residues which interacts with the carboxyl terminal of sialic acids._x000D_ Immunogen_x000D_ NEU1 purified recombinant protein_x000D_ Physical form_x000D_ Solution in Dulbecco′s Modified Eagle′s Medium with 10% fetal calf serum and 15 mM sodium azide._x000D_ Disclaimer_x000D_ Unless otherwise stated in our catalog or other company documentation accompanying the product(s), our products are intended for research use only and are not to be used for any other purpose, which includes but is not limited to, unauthorized commercial uses, in vitro diagnostic uses, ex vivo or in vivo therapeutic uses or any type of consumption or application to humans or animals._x000D_ Biochem/physiol Actions_x000D_ Neuraminidases 1 (NEU1) is a key enzyme that catalyzes the removal of terminal sialic acid residue from the sialylated glycoconjugate. Monocyte differentiation in response to an antigen leads to NEU1 relocalization from lysosome to cell surface and is involved in antigen presentation. NEU1 inhibits metastasis of cancer cells by regulating integrin β4. Mutations in NEU1 or lack of Periplasmic c7 type cytochrome A (PpcA) protein causes an autosomal recessive lysosomal storage disease, sialidosis.
