Description General description Phase transition studies of potassium thiocyanate (KSCN) suggest that thiocyanate ions exhibit order-disorder type transitions. Its polarized infrared spectrum has been reported. It participates in the ring-opening of aziridines. This reaction was carried out in the presence of sulfated zirconia to afford the corresponding β-aminothiocyanates. Application Potassium thiocyanate (KSCN) may be used to study the effect of emulsifier type on the micro-structural changes occurring in emulsified lipids during in vitro digestion. It may be used for colorimetric quantification of intracellular iron content of superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO) nanoparticles.
