Description_x000D_ General description_x000D_ This hand press is for making transparent KBr pellets (discs). The pellet is formed using only the pressure of a firm handshake applied steadily to the handle. Kit includes a die set for making 7mm diam. pellets._x000D_ • Die sets made of hardened nickel based alloy_x000D_ • Anvil faces are optically polished_x000D_ • Optional 2 and 4mm die sets and collars_x000D_ KBr Pellet Technique:_x000D_ 1. KBr powder/sample matrix is poured into the hole in the SS collar into which the shorter of the two anvils has first been inserted._x000D_ 2. The longer second anvil is then inserted in the collar and the assembly is placed in the press handle._x000D_ 3. Pressure is applied to the sample by squeezing the handle._x000D_ 4. When the anvils are removed from the collar, the KBr pellet is retained inside of the collar._x000D_ 5. The collar is placed in the optional V-shaped sample holder that will fit standard 2 × 3in. slide mount of any spectrometer._x000D_ 6. After analysis, the pellet is rinsed out of the collar with water or ejected and saved.
